COVID-19 : Six deaths, 4402 new Covid-19 cases in U’khand on Wednesday

The third wave of the pandemic of Covid-19 is continuing unabated in Uttarakhand. On Wednesday, the state Health department reported the death of six patients from the disease. The department also reported 4,402 new cases of the disease. With them the active case count has climbed to 22,962 in the state.

The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state is now at 3,82,133 while a total of 3,43,753 patients have recovered from the disease so far. A total of 7,462 people have died in the state so far from Covid-19. The recovery percentage of the disease further dropped to 89.96 per cent while the positivity rate was 11.85 per cent on Wednesday.

Death of two patients each was reported at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and  Kailash hospital Dehradun while one patient each died at Premsukh hospital Dehradun and Metro hospital Haridwar on Wednesday.

The state health department reported 1678 new patients from Dehradun, 694 from Haridwar, 592 from Nainital, 376 from Udham Singh Nagar, 238 from Pauri, 225 from Almora, 148 from Bageshwar, 126 from Tehri, 123 from Pithoragarh, 75 from Champawat, 73 from Chamoli, 38 from Uttarkashi and 16 from Rudraprayag on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, 85 trainee officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and staff members at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) Mussoorie were found infected with the Covid-19.   These officers were part of a group of 480 which had arrived in the academy on Sunday. All the officers found positive have been isolated in the academy.

The active case count of Covid-19 in the state has now jumped to 22,962. Dehradun with 9,724 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Haridwar has 3,199 active cases of the disease which is followed by Nainital district with 3,174 active cases. Uttarkashi is at the bottom of the table with 106 active cases of the disease. 

 In the ongoing vaccination drive 37,758 people were vaccinated in 1154 sessions in the state held on Wednesday.
