Date for reopening Badrinath to be declared on Feb 5, Kedarnath on March 1

The date for reopening of the Badrinath temple will be decided on the occasion of Vasant Panchami on February 5. The date will be ritually arrived at the palace of the erstwhile royal family of Tehri in Narendranagar. The date for reopening of the Kedarnath shrine will be arrived at on the occasion of Mahashivratri on March 1.
The Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) media in-charge Harish Gaur informed that the programme on February 5 will be held in a brief form considering Covid-19 guidelines and the rising cases of Covid. The rituals will begin at 10 AM on the occasion.
Members of the erstwhile royal family including Manujyendra Shah, MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, the Rawal (chief priest) of Badrianth, Isvari Prasad Namboodari, BKTC chairman Ajendra Ajay Bhatt, vice chairman Kishore Panwar and CEO BD Singh among others will also be present on the occasion.
Similarly, the date for reopening of the Kedarnath shrine will be arrived at ritually on the occasion of Mahashivratri on March 1. The date for reopening of the Kedarnath shrine will be decided at the Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath. As per the traditions, the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri will be reopened for the public on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya on May 3. The formal announcement of the timings of reopening these two shrines is made by the temple committees and priests on the occasion of Yamuna Jayanti and the Hindu new year.
