Asks the banks to simplify the process of loans so that the general public is able to get benefit of the government schemes

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the Uttarakhand government has taken a target to double its income in next five years and to achieve it the different departments and the banks should work in coordination. He was delivering a presidential address at the State level bankers committee meeting here on Thursday. The CM said that the banks should render required support to the government in its efforts for all round development of the state. He said that the banks should simplify the process of loans so that the general public is able to benefit from the different schemes of the government.

Expressing concern on the low credit deposit ratio of the banks in the State, Dhami said that efforts should be made to improve it. He suggested that the format of the forms of different banks should be the same so that the general public faces no inconvenience in filling them. The CM expressed annoyance at the long pendency in processing of loan proposals and said that a time limit should be set for disbursal of loan after its approval. He also opined that the banks should refrain from rejecting the loan applications unnecessarily and suggested that the responsibilities of bankers and officers concerned should be fixed in this regard. The CM said that the targets given to different departments and the banks are the minimum ones and overachievement of targets brings benefit to the people. In the meeting Dhami directed the officers concerned to ensure that regular meetings of the Bankers committees should be held at the district and block levels and the CDOs should attend the block level meetings.

Dhami said that our country has entered into the phase of Amrit Kal of Azadi and concerted and combined effort should be made for progress in every sector. He said that an awareness drive should be launched in the state for providing information about the social welfare schemes of the union and the State governments.

The finance minister Premchand Agarwal, additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, Chief General Manager (CGM) State Bank of India (SBI) K K Kant, GM SBI Abhay Singh, CGM National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Bhaskar Pant, GM Punjab National Bank (PNB) Sanjay Kandpal and others were present on the occasion.
