Cabinet minister Harak Singh has fuelled speculation about the possibility of him joining the Congress. A day after his absence from the BJP’s core committee meeting in Dehradun raised questions, he reportedly left for Delhi on Sunday. Talking to mediapersons here he said that all secrets will be out soon. “No person will be able to keep secrets after January 28. You only have to wait for a few days. I am not adept at playing cards but have seen card players keeping their cards close to their chest and waiting for the other player to reveal his cards,” he said.
If sources are to be believed, Rawat along with one to four MLAs and his daughter in-law may join the Congress. He is said to be seeking a ticket for his daughter in-law to contest from the Lansdowne constituency which the BJP has not assured. It will be recalled that last month, Rawat had stormed out of a cabinet meeting, disgruntled due to the issue of Kotdwar medical college not being taken up in the meeting. A few days later, he had dinner with chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and praised him stating that Dhami had always stood by him even in difficult times.
It is also pertinent to mention here that it was Rawat who had defected from the Congress to the BJP along with eight other MLAs in 2016.
