CM lays stress on efforts to tackle fresh Covid surge

Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat directed officials to speed up pace of RT-PCR tests and vaccination in the state to effectively control the surge in Covid-19. Chairing a video-conference with officials concerned on Tuesday, Rawat said that considering the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, a special campaign should be conducted in the city for vaccination and RT-PCR tests.

The CM said that containment and micro-containment zones should be made and special focus should be laid in places where Covid cases are rising. He stressed that people from other states and cities with a high load of Covid cases should be allowed to enter Uttarakhand only on present a negative Covid test report. Taking serious cognisnace of complaints about SPS hospital in Rishikesh, the CM directed the officials to improve the facilities soon while also taking strict action against those behaving irresponsibly towards their duties. The CM also directed that special focus be laid on health facilities and other essential services in view of the Kumbh Mela and the Char Dham Yatra slated to begin soon.

Chief secretary Om Prakash, additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, secretaries Amit Singh Negi, Shailesh Bagauli, SA Murugeshan and others were present in the meeting.
