In latest news from Uttarakhand, the Anganwadi workers of Dunda block staged a stir, demanding the department to raise their honorarium.  The Dunda block president of the Anganwadi workers’ union Rukmani Semwal said that their longstanding demand for honorarium hike has remained unaddressed and their appeal to meet the chief minister is being ignored.

Spelling out their demands, she said that the first demand is the honorarium to be raised to Rs 600 per day and Rs 18,000 per month. “Besides, on the basis of seniority, our honorarium should be increased every year after completion of 15 years’ service. Further, we demand the government to pay Rs two lakh to each Anganwadi worker on retirement and to issue golden cards to us like other government employees so as to enable us avail benefits of the government schemes,” she said and added that in case the government continues to ignore their demands, they would stop work and keep the ICDS centres locked.
