As per sources privy to the hectic developments going on inside the embattled Congress in the aftermath of the cross- voting by a number of party MLAs from Himachal Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha poll for the lone seat, the cloud of uncertainty on the continuance of Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu as the chief minister has been blown over for the time being at the intervention of the AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi. To end speculation the political circles were abuzz with that a change of guard was in the offing, given the major setback the party received ahead of the Lok Sabha election, Priyanka had to step in and made it clear that Sukhu would stay put and lead the government as before. Sources said that 25 out of 40 MLAs are standing solidly behind the beleaguered CM, adding that Priyanka threw her weight behind the CM moved by his unwavering loyalty to the party.
