Harak declines ED summon, cites preoccupation  with LS poll

In latest news from Dehradun, the Congress leader and former minister Harak Singh Rawat declined to appear before the Enforcement Directorate, defying the summon served on him following the ED raids on multiple locations linked to the  charges pertaining to unauthorised tree felling in Pakhro range and land scams of which Rawat is a prime accused.  The former minister pleaded his inability to appear, citing his preoccupation with the upcoming Lok Sabha election preparations and sought a month from the ED.

Besides, a close associate of the former minister Lakshmi Rana also declined to appear before ED despite summon, citing health issues. Thereafter, the ED resent summon advancing date. Importantly, ED summoned Harak’s wife, son and daughter- in- law for questioning on the alleged scams.
