Man’s body found in grain tank in Haridwar home

The body of a Pauri resident was found inside a tank used to store grain at a house in Chand Colony of Bhagwanpur area of Haridwar district on Friday night. The district’s senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh also reached the spot to inspect the scene and directed the police personnel to ensure early disclosure in the case.

According to the police, the body has been identified as that of Nitin Bhandari (30) a resident of Chorikhal area of Pauri district. Sources state that the police have also found some important clues. There was a mark believed to have been inflicted by a sharp object on the head of the deceased.  The body is said to be about four days old.  The police teams are raiding various locations in search of the tenants who have vacated the house. Though the police have got some important clues in the case, they are refraining from disclosing anything at this point of time with the investigation still underway.

The landlord Sikandar has a three-storey house in Chand Colony of Bhagwanpur. In the month of September this year, three people including a woman had come to stay here on rent.  Two days ago, these people vacated the house and went away.  Sikandar reached the house on Friday night.  He saw a grain tank on the third floor of the house and got suspicious on seeing it. On peeping inside the tank he spotted the body of a young man in it.  After this the information was given to the police SSP Ajai Singh, SP (Rural) Swapna Kishore Singh and inspector Amarjeet Singh reached the spot.  Police took possession of the body and began investigation in the case.
