In latest news from Doon, the Padma Shri recipient orthopaedic surgeon Dr B K S. Sanjay said while addressing a programme organised at Bhimrao Ambedkar Library, Dashmesh Vihar here on Monday, marking the 133 birth anniversary of Bhimrao Ambedkar, that the whole world is now acknowledging the great role Ambedkar played during his eventful life. “Ambedkar is not just a political leader of India but a multi-faceted reformer whose message resonates across the world. Acknowledging his contribution to the world life, government and non-government organisations across the world are zealously having his statues installed while educational institutions and parks among others are being named after him,” he said.
Further, he exhorted the people to internalise his message and let it manifest in life instead of paying mere lip-service to his contribution. “The greatest tribute to the great leader can be paid by educating ourselves and educating our children. I believe that illiteracy rather than poverty is the root cause of the problems India has been facing,” he asserted.
A number of dignitaries from multiple fields were present and addressed the commemorative gathering while dwelling on the myriad aspects of the many-sided persona of Ambedkar.
