Akashvani New Delhi celebrates Meri Mati Mera Desh in Mana village

In latest Uttarakhand news, the Akashvani station of New Delhi hosted a cultural programme under Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign and also to mark the success of the just-held G-20 Summit in Mana village which is called the ‘First Indian Village’ located along the Indo-Tibetan border in Chamoli district. The principal director general of Akashvani Vasudha Gupta was the chief guest while the Chamoli district magistrate Himanshu Khurana was present. Clothed in traditional attire, the village women presented Pauna dance while welcoming the guests. A cultural troupe performed jagar songs and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) played its band. While addressing the gathering, Gupta said that she felt as though she were from this village. She stressed on preservation of the unique culture, traditions and dialects associated with this village and assured that Akashvani would keep on promoting the religious shrines and the languages/dialects of Uttarakhand. The DM said that the existence of Mana village dates back to the hoary time of the puranas and so it is loaded with immense religious/pilgrimage potential. He further said that under the Vibrant Village project, the cultural traditions of this village are being protected and promoted.
