Along with winning elections, it is also important to win the hearts of the people. The Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary and State in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam said this while speaking at a booth empowerment workshop held here on Friday.

Addressing party members, Gautam said that the BJP’s efforts are aimed at bridging the gap between the rich and poor to bring them both together. He said, “Abrogation of article 370 and a leader like Farooq Abdullah unfurling the national flag is a victory of our ideology. It is our duty to share such information with the Panna Toli at the booth level.” Referring to works done by the BJP government, corruption-free governance and construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, he said that the BJP does what it says. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has often spoken on Uttarakhand in his Mann Ki Baat programme. A sum of Rs 28 lakh crore has also been put into Jan Dhan accounts which is a major example of corruption-free governance through direct benefit transfer, added Gautam.

Rajya Sabha member and the party’s booth empowerment campaign national convenor Saroj Pandey said that the people gave the BJP a chance to serve them in 2014.  The people found the BJP to be the only choice to save themselves from scams being orchestrated consistently at that time. Since then, work has been done to bring the nation out from dire straits and place it in a good position, she said.

BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that efforts like the booth empowerment campaign play a vital role in increasing the organisational influence. The party workers are making efforts to make the organisation effective down to the village level through the booths. Stating that about 94 per cent booth management has been done in a district like Champawat, he stressed on the need for holding discussions in villages on works of the Central and State governments along with the budget.
