Rain and snowfall forecast in many parts of State today

The political temperature may be expected to rise with the start of the budget session of the Assembly at Bharadisain in Gairsain but rain and snowfall are expected to bring the temperature down in various parts of the State today. The State meteorological centre has forecast that rain and snowfall are likely especially in five districts while light rain is likely in the remaining districts. The centre has also issued a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail likely to occur at isolated places especially in mountainous districts of the State today.

According to the meteorological centre forecast, light to moderate rain/snowfall are likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and very light to light rainfall is likely to occur at a few places in the remaining districts of the State. Further, snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 3,500 metres and above.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness partly to generally cloudy skies with rain/thunderstorm also likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 16 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Monday.

Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 30.1 degrees Celsius and 15.7 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 30 degrees Celsius and 12.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21.6 degrees Celsius and 8.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 21 degrees Celsius and 10.8 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.  Light to moderate rain was also experienced in some places in the State on Sunday with 16 millimetres each being reported in Kanda and Lakhamandal, 7.5 millimetres in Dunda, 6.5 millimetres in Purola, six millimetres in Dewal and 5.5 millimetres each in Pratapnagar and Budhakedar.
