In latest news from Uttarakhand, the Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar visited the revered Badrinath shrine and paid obeisance to the Lord on the second day of his two-day maiden Uttarakhand visit since he assumed office. During the puja the Governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh and the VP’s wife Sudesh Dhankhar were with him. On completion of the puja, Dhankhar said that he had prayed for the wellbeing of the country and world peace. Earlier, the special aircraft of the Air Force carrying the VP and his wife landed at the Army helipad in Badrinath. He was welcomed there by a number of senior administrative and police officers. He drove straight to the shrine and performed puja for about half an hour assisted by the shrine’s senior priests.  He looked overwhelmed with the transcendental beauty and peace of the shrine and the surrounding Himalayan landscape. He also took stock of the ongoing Badrinath reconstruction work according to the Centre-envisaged master plan and commended the whole team engaged in the work for executing the reconstruction project in the high- altitude tough Himalayan terrain.
