MCD collects Rs 1.82 lakh in one-day property tax collection camp

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) collected revenue of Rs 1.82 lakh in its first property tax collection camp this year. The tax section of the corporation organised a camp at Rajeshwarnagar in Sahastradhara Road to maximise the recovery of property tax from Wednesday as per the orders of mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’. 

The municipal tax superintendent Dharmesh Painuly informed that a total of Rs 1,82,314 were collected  in the camp while the total collection of the day was about Rs 12 lakh. The officials informed that most of the senior citizens arrived in the camp for property tax submission.

They informed that MCD will organise its next camp at Vasant Vihar Society Club on Friday. The corporation has planned to organise a total of eight camps from September 1 to September 14 and as per the officials, such camps will help to maximise the recovery of the property tax.

It is pertinent to mention here that the period of 20 per cent rebate will not be extended further as per the mayor’s order and so far, the MCD has collected over Rs four crore in this financial year.
