Army personnel from Bengaluru drowns in Udham Singh Nagar

A Bengaluru native and a serving army personnel, Himanshu Mishra reportedly died due to drowning in a river in the Gularbhoj area of Udham Singh Nagar district. Mishra, who was currently posted in Haldwani with the Army Supply Corps, went missing in the river on Sunday, as per the officials. They informed that the police circle officer of Bazpur informed the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) late on Sunday that a person had drowned in the river. Acting swiftly on the information, an SDRF team from Rudrapur led by sub-inspector Surendra Singh was dispatched to the site. The team launched an intensive search operation that continued late into the night. However, darkness and strong currents hindered the effort and the individual could not be located. The SDRF resumed the search operation on Monday morning and successfully recovered the body from the river. The body was handed over to the local police for further procedures. Authorities have identified the deceased as Himanshu Mishra, originally from Bangalore, who was serving in the Indian Army’s Supply Corps. The officials said that the police are looking into the matter from every angle to eliminate the possibility of any suspicious cause behind his death.
