BJP welcomes SC decision, says Congress views issue as a political opportunity

The Bharatiya Janata Party has welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the encroachments in Vanbhulpura area of Haldwani and stated that the State government had already made it clear that the decision of the court is supreme and that it should be followed by all.

The BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that the thousands of family encroaching in the area and now involved in a court battle are facing the problem due to past Congress governments. The problem being experienced now would not have been faced if the issue had been resolved in the past. Bhatt said, “The court has sought a reply from the Railways and the State government. I am hopeful that the problem of the people facing it will be resolved. The State government is not a party in the case and the matter is not a State government issue but the BJP sympathises with the thousands of families affected. On the other handm, the Congress has been viewing this as a political opportunity. It is possible that its attempts will be put to rest,” he said.
