Vandana Kataria’s brother to start Hockey Academy for girls

 Pankaj Kataria, the brother of the hockey star Vandana Kataria would soon start a ‘Hockey academy’ for girls in Uttarakhand.  Vandana Kataria has also agreed to give tips to the upcoming players in this academy.

International hockey player Vandana Kataria,a  resident of Roshnabad village, created history by scoring a hat-trick in the Tokyo Olympics. In fact she became the first Indian hockey player to score a hat-trick in Olympics. Today, taking inspiration from Vandana, many players are planning to make a future in hockey. However, lack of facilities act as a hindrance for them. 

In view of these problems of the budding players, Pankaj Kataria has decided to take the initiative to improve the skills of hockey of the young girls.  He said that he would soon open an academy in the name of his sister Vandana Kataria.  “Apart from hockey, girls will be given free training in martial arts for self-defence, special coaches will be kept for this Vandana will also give tips to the players by coming to the academy from time to time. My aim is to provide opportunities to the players who do not play hockey in the absence so that more players like Vandana can come out of the district and make their career in hockey,’’ he said.
