In protest against the ban imposed on 30 per cent reservation for women of the State in government jobs, the female wing of the Uttarakhand Congress held a protest march in Dehradun on Monday. The Congress workers tried to march towards the residence of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Addressing the rally, the President of Women Congress, Jyoti Rautela said that the State government failed to present the case strongly in the Court and demanded that it should now move to the Supreme Court (SC). She alleged that the ban was imposed on reservations for women because the State government presented a poor case. She demanded that the State government should now move to the SC or bring an ordinance to protect the interests of the women of the State. Rautela said that the women of Uttarakhand play an important part in the social and economic life of the State and were at forefront in the statehood movement. The vice president of Mahila Congress Asha Manorama Dobriyal Sharma, Anuradha Tiwari, Komal Vohra, Sunita Gupta and others took part in the protest.
