Directs officials to expedite process of passing residential & commercial building maps

The Urban Development minister Prem Chand Agarwal presided over a meeting at his Vidhan Sabha office to review the progress of the Haridwar Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA) on Wednesday. He directed the officials to work on expediting the process of passing residential and commercial building maps. The minister said that the government establishes such authorities for the convenience of the public, considering which the HRDA is also attempting to fulfill this objective. In 2021-22 the HRDA earned a revenue of Rs 30 crore against a target of Rs 36 crore whereas till the month of February in 2022-23, the authority has earned a revenue of Rs 42.83 crore against a target of Rs 40 crore.

Agarwal said that under the infrastructural aspect, the HRDA has to undertake works amounting to Rs 38 crore. As part of this target, the authority is undertaking 122 different works with most of them nearing completion. The minister said that in the city area, under the HRDA the improvement of 84 parks and installation of solar lights, provision of paths and gymnasiums among other aspects in the parks is being undertaken by the authority. Under the Pradham Mantri Awas Yojana, the HRDA has completed construction of 528 residential units for which 896 applications have been received. The process of verification of these applications is currently underway. Agarwal said that Haridwar is a famous pilgrimage centre visited by multitudes of pilgrims. Due to this, parking facility is a major aspect of the city.

The HRDA is making consistent effort to facilitate the desired parking facilities. Work is underway to facilitate multi storied parking facility at five locations in the city. The minister further said that the HRDA will soon facilitate the construction of a gate at the entrance to Haridwar city at Narsan. He directed the officials concerned to ensure that the public does not face any type of inconvenience. He also directed the officials to speed up the process of passing building maps while also telling them to present a report on the legal and illegal constructions in the area under the authority’s jurisdiction. Agarwal further directed the officials to work on the proposal of passing residential building maps within 15 days and commercial building maps within 30 days. The HRDA vice chairman and Haridwar district magistrate Vinay Shankar Pandey, chief finance officer Neetu Kandari and other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
