U’khand to witness fresh spell of rain snow from Jan 7

The meteorologists have warned that the active western disturbance would result in more harsh winters this year as compared with the past in Northern India. Uttarakhand which is already under a spell of rain and snow could experience another such spell on January 7 and 8. The scientist at Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences Narendra Singh said that at present a western disturbance is active over Jammu and Kashmir due to which Uttarakhand is witnessing rain and snow. He said that another trough is  getting created over Pakistan and Afghanistan which would shift over Jammu and Kashmir on January 6 which would bring heavy rains and snow over Himalayan regions, Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh and New Delhi. The Nainital town experienced rainfall on Wednesday which plummeted the mercury. The meteorological centre recorded a maximum temperature of 12 degree Celsius while a minimum temperature of four degree Celsius was recorded on the day in Nainital.
