Uttarakhand police tops States with 68.7 % recovery rate in theft cases

The Uttarakhand police has achieved first position for recovery of stolen items with 68.7 per cent recovery rate in the Crime In India 2021 report published by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). The State’s director general of police Ashok Kumar said that the State police has achieved this success by maximising the use of modern technology in solving theft cases. “Investigating theft cases in detail, the police initiated legal action against the culprits.

Further, the recovery rate of the State’s police is highest in the country due to the special efforts made to recover the stolen property,” said the DGP. He further said that this is a result of policing done in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of smart police. It is pertinent to mention here that with a recovery rate of 68.7 per cent in theft cases, Uttarakhand police has achieved the first position in the NCRB’s 2021 report. This is more than double the national average of 30.2 per cent. In the NCRB report, Uttarakhand police is followed by Tamil Nadu with 64.8 per cent and Himachal Pradesh with 55 per cent recovery rate.
