Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has directed all the district magistrates to ensure all arrangements on time for Covid vaccination. He directed that priorities should be ascertained, vaccination centres should be identified and planning for necessary equipment along with availability of manpower should be done on time. Instead of schools, the vaccination centres should be set up in hospitals and nearby areas, he said. The CM said this while chairing a review meeting through video conferencing with the divisional commissioners and all district magistrates here on Friday.
Rawat directed the health secretary to soon provide him the details of the daily tests being conducted in private and government labs in the state along the capacity of the labs and other aspects. Special efforts should be undertaken to bring down the Covid death rate. In case any Covid patient has to be referred to a higher centre, there should be no delay, he said, while stressing on the need for more efforts to improve the recovery rate.
The CM further directed the DMs to swiftly increase the testing in the districts with special focus on RT PCR test. It should also be ensured that test results of samples should be received by the people within 24 hours of collection in urban areas and within 48 hours in mountainous areas. The people should be made aware that in case of any symptoms they should call the Covid control room or toll free number. Strictness should be observed in case any person with Covid symptoms refuses to undergo a test. Full vigilance should be observed till a vaccine is brought out, he stressed.
Stating that hospitalised Covid patients should be fully cared for, he said that hospitals should be monitored regularly. Focus should also be laid on motivating all the health workers and using the state’s full capacity for testing, he added.
In his detailed presentation, the health secretary in-charge informed about the impact of Covid and measures being taken to control it in the state.
He directed all the DMs to make effective arrangements for testing and prepare a vaccination plan so that necessary action can be taken swiftly according to the standards if the vaccine becomes available in the first week of January.
