U’khand Congress pays tributes to Indira Gandhi, Sardar Patel

 The Uttarakhand Congress organised a seminar on the occasion of the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and birth anniversary of first Home Minister Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel at all the offices of the party in the State on Monday.

 A programme was organised at the headquarters of the party in Dehradun in which Congressmen offered tributes to Indira Gandhi and Sardar Patel.

 Speaking on the occasion, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, exhorted the party leaders and workers to move forward on the path shown by the two leaders. He said that Indira Gandhi played an important role in bringing the country on the path of development with her intellect and abilities. She was responsible for nationalisation of banks, twenty point programmes, poverty alleviation programme and many development and social schemes. Mahara said that Patel played a key role in the unification of the different princely  provinces of the country and laid the foundation stone of a strong India.

 He said that India Gandhi crushed the enemies of the country and gave her supreme sacrifice to preserve the unity and integrity of the nation.

 Speaking on the occasion, the former PCC president Ganesh Godiyal said that we are the successors of the leaders like Sardar Patel and Indira Gandhi who were instrumental in the unity of the country. He said that the Congress party always workers for forging communal harmony and brotherhood in the society and succeeded but some destructive forces today are again pushing the country towards slavery.

 The seminar was addressed by former ministers Navprabhat, Hira Singh Bisht, vice presidents Mathura Dutt Joshi, Surya Kant Dhasmana, general secretary organisation Vijay Saraswat, Puran Singh Rawat , chief spokesperson of Bharat Joddo Yatra Garima Dasauni and others.
