ADG wins Gold in powerlifting championship

The additional general of police (Telecom) and the vice president of Uttarakhand Police Sports Control Board, Amit Sinha won a gold medal in the All India Masters Classic Powerlifting Championship 2023. This five-day long championship was held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh that concluded on Sunday.

The officials informed that a total of 456 weightlifters from 23 States participated in the competition. The ADG won the gold medal in the body weight category of 120 kilogrammes in the weightlifting category by lifting 435 kilogrammes of weight besides doing 180 squats, 160 deadlifts and 95 bench presses.

Besides this, he has also been selected for the World Championship of weightlifting which is scheduled to be held from October 8 to 15 this year in Ulaan Baatar, the biggest city and the capital of Mongolia, as per the officials. The director general of police Ashok Kumar also congratulated the ADG for this achievement. He said that it is praiseworthy that out of 23 states, Uttarakhand won a gold medal and added that such victories bring a sense of pride and joy not just among the police community but the whole State. He also wished Sinha the best for the upcoming World Championship.
