Speaker inaugurates agriculture & cultural autumn fair

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the State Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri inaugurated the agriculture and cultural autumn fair in Uttarkashi. In her address, she said that the cultural heritage of Yamuna valley is very rich which must be preserved for posterity. Hailing the role of women in the development of the mountainous State, she said that the women power is on the ascendancy with the governments at the Centre and in the State dishing out a string of welfare projects intended to empoer women. Speaking on the occasion, the vice- president of the Uttarakhand horticulture development council, Rajkumar said that the farmers of Yamuna valley are hardworking and progressive. He further said that with the district endowed with great potential in the field of agriculture and horticulture,   new technologies must be incorporated in farming and new jobs must be generated for the women and youths. Several departments like the horticulture and food processing and animal husbandry along with a slew of NGOs have set up stalls in the fair. Cultural programmes are also being organised during the fair.
