Thunderstorm warning issued for parts of 5 districts

The State meteorological centre has issued a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts towards afternoon/evening on Friday. Further, light rain/thunderstorms/snowfall are likely to occur at a few places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts while very light to light rain/thunderstorms/snowfall are likely to occur at isolated places in remaining mountainous regions of the State today. Snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 3,800 metres and above. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the plains of the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness mainly clear to partly cloudy skies with very light to light rainfall with thunder cloud development likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Thursday were 32.6 degrees Celsius and 18.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 34.2 degrees Celsius and 16.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 20.9 degrees Celsius and 10.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 22.3 degrees Celsius and 12.1 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain were experienced in various parts of the State with light snowfall also being experienced in some high altitude regions.
