Thousands throng Patanjali Yogpeeth on International Day of Yoga

CM practises yoga under Yoga Guru Ramdev’s guidance

In latest Uttarakhand news, , Patanjali Yogpeeth has celebrated the 9th International Day of Yoga with events that witnessed the participation of 20,000 yoga seekers, including the State chief minister. A yoga session was organised which was led by yoga guru Ramdev. The State chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami practised yoga for two and half hours under the guidance of Ramdev.

Addressing the gathering of yoga enthusiasts, Ramdev said that yoga exercises were being done simultaneously in nearly 600 districts and 5000 tehsils spread across the country.  While extolling the all-embracing, secular nature of yoga, he averred that  the students of Patanjali University would go to celebrated universities like Oxford , Harvard and Stanford besides  IITs and IIMs with the message of facilitating more health and wealth.  “We will export yogis from India to the world who would not just provide medical solutions to diseases but would lead the world in every realm of life on the strength of  ancient Indian culture and wisdom. People, irrespective of caste and communities, are participating in this yoga celebration event today and this signifies the unifying beauty of yoga,” he said.  

He further said that while the Prime Minister was practising yoga in UNO, the yongest chief minister of  Uttarakhand was doing the same along with over 20,000 people here. “We have to make Uttarakhand Yogyukt , disease free and drug free. This State must be developed as the cultural and spiritual capital of the world with industry and entrepreneurship being promoted along with yoga,” Ramdev said.

“The world has become yogic today, getting connected to our sanatana cultural tradition. This has enhanced immensely India’s esteem at the global level,” he said adding that  crores of people are not only getting cured from diseases by yoga  but yoga has also opened employment avenues for lakhs of youngsters.

While dwelling on the spcial nature of Indian civilisation, he said that empires built on economic and political might come, reign, decline and fall. “But India’s empire is a cultural empire built by our ancestors and it keeps thriving for ever,” he said.   

Speaking on the occasion, CM Dhami said that his government has been trying with unwavering focus to develop the State spiritually and culturally as well as economically. “With this objective kept in view, we are going to organise Global Investor Summit here in which we will invite people from India and abroad,” he added.

In his address, Acharya Balkrishna said that yoga alone can unite humaninity, razing down all divisive walls. “Yoga Guru Ramdev has revived this hoary Indian knowledge and  made the people across the world aware of its myriad benefits,” he added.
