A juice trader in Haridwar has lodged a complaint with the police after his minor girl gave a total of about Rs 6.5 lakh from his locker to a friend to maintain friendship. While the friend who had received the money reportedly spent it on shopping and having a good time, the girl’s father lodged a police complaint suspecting theft. The truth was revealed later when the girl admitted to the facts at home. The police are now investigating the matter.

The daughter of a juice trader in Ganganahar Kotwali area attends class X tuition at a coaching center in the area.  A teenaged boy living on rent in Rampur also attended tuition at the centre. His father works as a labourer. As the two developed a friendship, the boy reportedly sought money from the girl citing poverty. She initially gave him Rs 10,000 from her father’s locker at home. After giving him some more money, she also gave him Rs six lakh which her father had recently received for a property deal.

On Wednesday, the juice trader opened the safe to learn that the money is missing.  He inquired from everyone in the house in this regard. After this, the businessman lodged a police complaint against six colony residents on the basis of suspicion. After this incident, his daughter said that her friend had purchased a motorbike and mobile phone with this amount. On Thursday evening, the girl’s family reached Ganganahar Kotwali with her and complained to the police.  Ganganahar police station inspector Aishwarya Pal said that the matter is being investigated after which further action will be taken.
