The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that a record number of deaths occurred this year during the Char Dham Yatra.

Interacting with the media persons at the headquarters of the Uttarakhand Congress on Thursday the PCC president said that the State government is continuously making claims for the arrival of a record number of pilgrims in the Char Dham Yatra this year and is seeking credit for this. He said that after the end of the pandemic of Covid and its restrictions people came out in big numbers in the Yatra but the fact is that the Yatra this year was replete with mismanagement.

Mahara said that the State government suppressed the data of the deaths that occurred in the Char Dham Yatra this year. He claimed that the maximum number of pilgrims died this year in the Char Dham Yatra than any other year. The PCC president said that pilgrims faced problems in parking their vehicles and having Darshans. He said that there was no arrangement of oxygen and the cardiologists were not deployed in the shrines.
