The protesting employees of the Transport Ministerial Employees Union staged a protest at the transport commissioner office in Dehradun on the seventh day of their indefinite strike on Monday. Several employees from various districts like Almora, Pithoragarh, Nainital, Pauri and Haridwar among others also arrived in Dehradun to protest against the transport department. However the public continued to suffer due to the strike of the employees associated with the union as the services like issuance of driving licenses, vehicle permits and fitness certificates remained affected in about 18 transport offices and several transport tax collection centres in the state. The state administration also held a meeting with the representatives of the union on Monday but it remained inconclusive after the union refused to revoke the protest until the government met their demand.

The general secretary of the union, Yashveer Singh Bisht said the union wants the government to amend the error in the order issued in June 2020 in which, the posts of senior administrative officers which have been approved previously were wrongly displayed as subordinate posts. He said that the union is demanding to amend the order for over a year as promotions of several employees are being hindered due to the apathy of the government. He said that the protesters will continue the protest till the government amends the error in the order.
