STF nabs inter-state gangster from Bareilly

The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested an inter-State gangster Deepak Gupta from Bareilly on Saturday. The accused has several cases registered against him and his gang members in various districts of Uttarakhand and neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.

The STF senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ayush Agrawal informed that the accused Deepak Gupta, a resident of  Sitarganj, Udham Singh Nagar along with his four accomplices had committed several thefts in many districts and a case was also registered against him and his four accomplices under the Gangster Act in Udham Singh Nagar. The SSP of Udham Singh Nagar had also announced a bounty of Rs 25,000 for his arrest. A total of nine cases of theft are registered against the arrested accused along with the charges under police encounter and Gangster Act in various police stations of UP and Uttarakhand.

SSP Agrawal further said that the arrested accused had also shot at police personnel in the past during their attempt to arrest him in Pilibhit, UP. He said that the STF team was in Bareilly for a week to nab the accused. He said that one of his accomplices, Aseem Raza Khan was also recently arrested by STF from Sitarganj this month. He also had a bounty of Rs 25,000 on his head.
