Advocating strongly for implementation of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the country, the speaker of Uttarakhand Assembly Ritu Khanduri has said that the country needs one law for all its citizens.

Addressing the valedictory ceremony of the 12th edition of the Indian Students Parliament organised by the MIT World Peace University, Pune on Saturday, Khanduri said that the framers of the constitution had promised a common code and the nation should follow it. She said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, pathbreaking decisions on CAA, Ram temple, Article 370 and triple Talaq have been taken and it is high time for the UCC to be implemented.

Khanduri said that the younger generation of the country has changed and there is a need to free it from the shackles of religion and caste and bring it under the ambit of a common law. She said that the article 44 of the constitution under the directive principles of state policy talks about a uniform civil code.

More than ten thousand students participated in the three-day student parliament organised by the MIT World Peace university.
