Speaker conducts surprise inspection of Vidhan Sabha, discusses development issues, law & order with chief secretary, DGP

The sudden inspection conducted by the Vidhan Sabha speaker Ritu Khanduri created panic among the officers and employees of Vidhan Sabha on Thursday. In her visit the speaker visited different sections, rooms of the officers, offices of the committees and the auditoriums. She directed the officers of the Vidhan Sabha to make necessary arrangements for proper functioning of their offices. She first of all inspected the sanitation and cleanliness of the galleries. The speaker also inspected the library of the Vidhan Sabha. She inquired about the job profile of the officers and employees present in the sections and the offices of the committees.

The officiating secretary Hem Pant, deputy secretary Narendra Rawat, principal private secretary Ajay Agarwal and others accompanied the speaker during her inspection of the assembly.

 Later in the day the speaker summoned the chief secretary SS Sandhu and director general of police Ashok Kumar and met them in her office in Vidhan Sabha. In the meeting she took stock of the law and order situation in the State and different development projects.

She said that in view of the upcoming festival season, the police should remain alert. Khanduri said that there should be laxity in dealing with crime and criminals. She said that the officers of police and administration should work in coordination to maintain law and order. In the meeting she also discussed the ongoing development projects in the State. She directed the CS to take note of the public grievances of her assembly constituency Kotdwar and the development projects of the area
