The governor of Uttarakhand Lieutenant General (Rtd) Gurmit Singh has directed all the universities and educational institutes that they should effectively implement the new National Education Policy (NEP). He added that the universities and institutes would have to work in a coordinated manner to achieve this. The Governor made these remarks during a meeting with the Vice Chancellor (VC) of HNB Garhwal University Annpurna Nautiyal at Raj Bhawan on Monday. The Governor opined that all round development of students would take place under the NEP. The policy would provide enough opportunities to the students for their growth and development and would give a new direction to the process of the nation building. He said that though it could take some time for adopting the changes sought under the NEP, the desired targets can be achieved only by its effective implementation promptly. Singh said that the NEP is not limited only for increasing the literacy but emphasises on life skills.
