CM Dhami visiting disaster affected areas, rides tractor to visit villages in Udham Singh Nagar

The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that the next of kin of the deceased in the rain triggered disaster in the state would be provided an ex gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh. The CM who is on the move ever since the heavy rains caused heavy damage to life and property in the state visited the disaster affected areas of Kumaon on Wednesday. After a day of hectic meetings, aerial surveys and inspections Dhami stayed in Haldwani on Tuesday night. On Wednesday morning he heard public grievances at ‘Janta Darbar’ in Haldwani and directed the officers to solve the problems of people on the spot. On a terse note he said that every possible requirement of disaster affected should be catered to. He then went ahead with his scheduled survey of disaster affected areas but his helicopter could not take off. An undeterred CM then hit the road and visited the disaster affected areas of Rudrapur, Kashipur and Haldwani. Dhami boarded a tractor and met affected people in Pratapur and Nausar areas of Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar. He assured the farmers that the state government would provide every possible help to them. In Melaghat road railway crossing he met the shopkeepers and local people. Here he directed the officers that compensation to the affected people should be provided without delay. He later conducted an aerial survey of Champwat district, Bhikiyasain and Ramgarh tehsil of Nainital.

The union minister of state for defence Ajay Bhatt, disaster management minister Dhan Singh Rawat and senior officers accompanied the CM.

The hyper activity and energy of the CM is having a bearing on the government machinery too. Earlier in the day the CM took stock of the situation of Char Dham Yatra and talked with the DM of Rudraprayag. He said that help should be provided to the pilgrims.
