The enforcement team of the regional transport office of Dehradun conducted an onsite inspection of the place outside Centrio Mall where a car rammed into a truck in which an army captain died and another man sustained injuries late on Wednesday night. The inspection was conducted under the supervision of regional transport officer (Enforcement) Shailesh Tiwari and assistant regional transport officer Rajendra Biratiya. Tiwari said that as per the information received from local people, the car was going towards Dilaram Chowk when a truck entering Centrio Mall hit the right side of the car which reportedly led to the severe accident. He said that the RTO teams have made crucial recommendations to agencies concerned to ensure such accidents do not occur in the future. He said that the mall management has been instructed to keep separate staff for the arrival and departure of trucks while ensuring proper lighting arrangements at the entry and exit gates besides the installation of entry and exit boards. “We will also write a letter to the body concerned for the installation of speed limit and ‘go slow’ signs besides the widening of road marking. The teams observed that the road at the location is straight due to which there is a possibility of overspeeding considering which the executing agency has also been asked to take speed reduction measures like rumble strip and road markings on the route,” Tiwari said. He said that the team made several other relevant suggestions and will also send the inspection reports to the executive body, Centrio Mall administration, district road safety committee and agencies concerned to take necessary measures.
