15 deaths from Covid-19 in U’khand on Friday

The high mortality from Covid-19 is continuing to cause anxiety in Uttarakhand even as the numbers of new cases of the disease are on a decline.

The state health department reported deaths of 15 patients from Covid-19 in different parts of Uttarakhand on Friday. It also reported 1183 new cases of the disease on the day while 4,186 patients recovered from it. 

The state health department has so far detected 83,023 new cases of the disease from January 1 this year till date. A total of 59,651 patients have recovered from the disease so far in this year while 178 patients have died in the state since January 1 this year. The recovery percentage of the disease was at 71.74 per cent on Friday. The positivity rate of the disease was reported at 5.74 per cent on the day.  

The authorities reported the death of three patients each at Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Kailash hospital and Velmed hospital Dehradun on Friday while two patients died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh. One patient each was reported dead at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital, Himalayan hospital and Hans foundation hospital Pauri on Friday.

The health department reported 369 new patients from Dehradun, 125 from Almora, 104 from Rudraprayag, 94 from Chamoli, 87 from Udham Singh Nagar, 77 from Pauri, 73 from Haridwar, 62 from Nainital, 52 from Pithoragarh, 48 from Uttarkashi, 44 from Champawat, 43 from Tehri and five from Bageshwar on Friday. 

 The active case count of Covid-19 in the state is now at 20,715.  Dehradun with 10,209 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Haridwar has 2,535 active cases of the disease which is followed by Pauri district with 2,340 active cases. Uttarkashi is at the bottom of the table with 99 active cases of the disease.  In the ongoing vaccination drive 61,503 people were vaccinated in 1,523 sessions in the state held on Friday.
