Rs 2000 notes to become papers from Oct 1

The Reserve Bank of India-stipulated period of depositing or exchanging Rs 2000 currency notes is ending on September 31. From October 1, this bank note will have no value. As per the RBI release, four months from June to September were given to the people for depositing/exchanging Rs 2000 currency notes. RBI had introduced the currency note of Rs 2000 in November 2016 under the section 24 of the Reserve Bank of India Act 1934 and RBI announced the withdrawal of Rs 2000 currency notes in May 2023.
