In protest against the ‘ ripped jeans’ remark by the chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat, the Uttarakhand Congress organised a secretariat march on Friday. Large number of women workers of the party took part in the protest. The Congress workers raised slogans against the CM and demanded his immediate resignation. To highlight their point some of the women leaders like Shilpi Arora and Pratima were seen wearing ripped jeans during the protest.
The march started at the Rajiv Bhawan and was stopped near Astley hall by the police. Here the Congress workers and the police entered into a minor scuffle. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh and other leaders were detained by the police. They were taken to the police lines at Race Course where they were later released.
