Review petition to be filed to enable Chamoli horse-mule operators to ply on Kedarnath route: Maharaj

The State’s Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj has said that the horse-mule operators of Chamoli district will not be ignored in the Kedarnath pilgrimage. A review petition will be filed soon in the court to enable them to operate on the Kedarnath route. He assured a delegation of horse-mule operators that the authorities will not treat them in a biased manner in any way. The minister also directed the district magistrate to file a review petition in the court regarding the horse-mule operators.

Maharaj said that it had come to his notice that the horse-mule operators of Chamoli district are unable to get licenses to operate in the Kedarnath pilgrimage due to which they are facing considerable problems. He directed the Rudraprayag district magistrate to file a review petition in the court soon. The minister said that he has had a discussion with officials in the administration on this subject. It was stated that there is a limit on the number of horses and mules allowed to operate on the Kedarnath Yatra route. Due to this, the horse- mule operators of Chamoli district are not able to get licenses to operate on this pilgrimage route.

Maharaj said that he has clearly instructed the Rudraprayag district magistrate that if problems are being faced in this issue, a review petition should be filed without delay in the court. He further said that he has instructed that the draft for the review petition should be prepared without delay and submitted to the administration so that a review petition can be filed by the State administration soon. He said that the horse-mule operators of Chamoli district will not face any bias and that they will also be involved in the Kedarnath pilgrimage. A review petition will be filed in this matter without delay to ensure this, he added. The government is with the horse-mule operators of Chamoli district and their problems will be resolved soon, said the minister.
