Rescuing workers top priority, opposition indulging in insensitive politics: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party has stressed that rescuing the workers stranded in the Silkyara tunnel is the top priority while also accusing the Congress of making insensitive statements. Responding to statements about ministers not reaching the site, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that the experts and disaster management teams needed the most are present at the site. He said that the best rescue efforts are being undertaken based on the experience of the experts involved in the operation.
Bhatt told media persons, “The government’s top priority is to rescue the stranded workers. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the site and inspected the situation himself. He is constantly monitoring the situation. He has issued clear instructions that all technical and other requirements should be fulfilled without delay for the rescue operation.” Stating that it is natural for the family members of the stranded workers to be worried, he expressed hope that the workers will be rescued by Saturday.
Regarding statements made by Congress leaders about CM Dhami undertaking an electoral tour and ministers not visiting the tunnel site, Bhatt said that the experts and disaster management teams needed most are present at the site. The CM, Union minister, local MP and MLAs have all visited the site to check the rescue operation and Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has sought information twice from CM Dhami about the situation. The BJP State president accused the Congress of indulging in insensitive politics on this issue. He said that experts and rescue teams at the site have more information and experience than opposition leaders. The operation is being undertaken on the suggestions of such experts and all necessary changes are being made as required. However, the opposition leaders are making statements on the basis of unconfirmed information on social media which is demotivating for the family members of the stranded workers. The people of Uttarakhand are also watching this insensitive and irresponsible attitude of the opposition leaders, Bhatt said.
