Readiness for emergency: CS stresses on coordination between civil admin & army

The chief secretary Anand Bardhan stressed on readiness at every level of the administration for any situation while maintaining coordination between the civil administration and the army. He gave these directives while chairing a high-level meeting here on Tuesday. He called for the creation of WhatsApp group of senior officers of various departments, Army, Air Force and paramilitary forces for better coordination. Moreover, he directed for extension of civil defence in all the districts of Uttarakhand.
He also urged the senior officers to be fully prepared for any kind of disaster while stating that the best way to deal with disaster scenarios is to strengthen coordination among departments, institutions and agencies with particular emphasis on the same involving Disaster Management, Police, Health, Public Works, Drinking Water, Electricity, Fire, Transport, IT, Army, NDRF, SDRF, ITBP and BRO.
He further said that the
State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) as a part of Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority would be the main control room. The control rooms of other departments set up across the State would regularly share information with SEOC, he said. Besides, the CS directed the IT department to remain alert and take appropriate action against cyber warfare while appealing to people to be on their guard against circulation of fake news on social media and warning stern actions against those posting fake news under the IT Act.
