Rain brings some relief from heat but dry & warm days in store

The weather took a turn on Tuesday evening with a spell of rain in Dehradun and rain accompanied with hail being experienced in neighbouring Mussoorie. Though the brief change in weather provided some minor relief from the rising temperatures, the coming days are likely to be hot and dry.

At a time when increasing temperatures in the plains and mountainous regions have caused the people to experience a warm and dry February, the weather took a turn on Tuesday evening. Clouds gathered and a spell of rain was experienced in Dehradun while rain along with hail was experienced in Mussoorie. Rainfall was also reported in Yamunotri and some other parts of the Uttarkashi district. The change in the weather brought some relief from the heat but Wednesday and following days are likely to remain warm and dry. The State meteorological centre has forecast dry weather in the districts of the State on Wednesday. The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness mainly clear skies with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 28 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius respectively on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Tuesday were 29.8 degrees Celsius and 13.3 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 28.8 degrees Celsius and 12.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 20.6 degrees Celsius and 8.7 degrees Celisius in Mukteshwar and 21.4 degrees Celsius and 11.2 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
