Railways complete electrification of Lalkuan-Kathgodam section

Train covers 29 km distance at 100 kmph as part of speed trial

The Indian Railways completed work under its electrification mission on the 29 kilometre Lalkuan-Kathgodam section on Wednesday. A speed trial was also conducted as part of which a train was operated at 100 kmph. With this development, the operation of long distance trains is expected to start from here soon.

Further, various trains will now be pulled by electric locomotives from here. The north eastern railway, Gorakhpur, principal chief electrical engineer Anil Kumar Shukla and divisional rail manager Ashutosh Pant inspected the rail section and the Lalkuan, Haldwani and Kathgodam railway stations. They directed officials to ensure immediate redressal of gaps. The duo launched the speed trial from Lalkuan after which the train was operated at 100 kmph on the 29 kilometre stretch from Lalkuan to Kathgodam.

It is pertinent to mention here that the operation of electric locomotives has started from Lalkuan whereas speed trial is to be held on the stretch between Kashipur and Lalkuan.
