Covid 19: Immunisation of senior citizens gathers pace in U’khand

The immunisation of senior citizens for Covid-19 is gathering momentum in Uttarakhand. On Tuesday 20,312 persons who are more than 60 years of age were vaccinated in different parts of the state with Covishield. So far 1,31,647 senior citizens have received the first dose of the vaccine. 

A total of 30,851 people were vaccinated in different parts of the state on Tuesday.  In the state 1,01,417 people have been fully vaccinated so far as they have received both the first and second dose of the vaccine. Similarly 8388 persons in the age group of 45-59 years having co-morbidity have been vaccinated in the state.

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said 416 vaccine sessions were organised in different parts of the state on Tuesday. In Dehradun 82 vaccine sessions were organised in which 6029 senior citizens, 301 people with co-morbidity, 946 healthcare workers and 1611 frontline workers were vaccinated on the day. Similarly 2492 senior citizens, 237 persons with co-morbidity, 245 health care workers and 1781 front line workers were vaccinated in 117 vaccine sessions in Haridwar district.

Meanwhile the state health department reported 65 new cases of the disease on Tuesday which increased the cumulative tally of the disease to 97,931. Death of no patient was reported by the department on the day. The authorities discharged 47 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery on Tuesday. A total of 94,215 patients have recovered from the disease in the state so far and the recovery percentage is now at 96.21. The state health department reported 24 new cases of the disease from Dehradun, 22 from Haridwar, 11 from Udham Singh Nagar, six from Nainital and one each from Almora and Bageshwar districts on the day. No new case was reported from Chamoli, Champawat, Pauri, Pithoragarh, Tehri, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi districts on Tuesday.  

The state now has 599 active patients of the disease. Haridwar district is at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 216 patients, Dehradun has 139, Nainital 99, Pauri 36, Udham Singh Nagar 32, Almora 17, Champawat 16, Tehri 12, Uttarkashi nine, Pithoragarh and Rudraprayag seven each, Bageshwar five and Chamoli four active cases of the disease.

CM stresses on speeding up Covid vaccination drive

Reviewing the status of Covid-19 vaccination, chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat stressed on conducting vaccination programme and elaborate public of the same in remote mountainous regions. He also directed the district magistrates to prepare district level Covid history information. Directing that the vaccination programme be conducted  till the Nyay Panchayat level, he said that all districts will have to work with an effective work plan for maximising the number of beneficiaries. He also directed that the vaccination programme be speeded up.
