Disruption continues- 136 roads blocked across State

Char Dham Yatra continues despite hindrances caused by weather

With moderate to heavy rains being experienced in various parts of the State on Monday too, the number of roads blocked in various parts of the State rose to 136. Electricity supply was disrupted in various parts of the State though the authorities stated that it was affected mainly in two blocks of Uttarkashi district. The Char Dham Yatra is continuing despite the disruptions being caused intermittently by factors related to the weather. A total of 18,654 persons visited the Char Dham shrines and the Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara on Monday, according to official data.

According to information from the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), 19 rural motor roads were blocked in the Tehri district while all roads were open for traffic in Udham Singh Nagar district. The level of water in the Ganga in Haridwar was 291.70 metres at 4 PM, a few metres below the danger mark of 294 metres. In the Dehradun district, one national highway, four State highways and 34 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked. Three rural motor roads were blocked in Bageshwar district while 19 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Uttarkashi district. Electricity supply in seven villages of Chinyalisaud block is expected to be restored on Tuesday. In Rudraprayag district the national highway to Kedarnath and bridle path from Gaurikund to Kedarnath were open though two rural motor roads were reported to be blocked. Fourteen rural motor roads were blocked in Pauri district while five rural motor roads were blocked in Almora district. In the Chamoli district, the national highway 58 to Badrinath was open though six rural motor roads were reported to be blocked. One State highway (partially) one internal road and eight rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Nainital district while one State highway and nine rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Champawat district. In the Pithoragarh district, one border road and seven rural motor roads were reported to be blocked. Efforts are underway to reopen the blocked roads.
