Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not talk on the important issues which are affecting the lives of the people. Addressing an election rally in Jageshwar assembly constituency in Almora district on Thursday, Gandhi kept the main focus of his speech on questioning the government’s policies under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party on inflation, unemployment and changing two chief ministers in the state, he asked why Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not talk on this issue now. He said that PM Modi will have to explain to the people of Uttarakhand as to why chief ministers were changed twice in the state. He said that in the past Modi used to speak a lot on the issues of unemployment, inflation and corruption while also making black money an issue. It was said that Rs 15 lakh would reach each citizen’s account. Not only this, even demonetisation was done in the name of black money but now they have kept silent on all these three issues, said the Congress leader. He further alleged that the BJP government is working for the interests of only a few billionaires which alone will not generate the jobs sought by the people. If the Congress government is elected in Uttarakhand, it would encourage local enterprises and take concrete steps to resolve the problem of inflation. “

We will fight, raise our voice in protest but will not kill our ethics. The Congress has for long been fighting for the welfare of the people,” he said. The party candidate Govind Singh Kunjwal also addressed the gathering on the occasion.

The former Congress president also addressed a public gathering in Manglaur constituency in Haridwar district on the same day. He kept the main focus of his address on PM Modi, criticising various aspects of the government under Modi. He said, “PM Modi thinks that everybody is afraid of him but I am not afraid of him. Using central agencies to pressurize me does not work,” he said.
