Accused was unhappy with husband & wanted to marry another man

Dehradun police on Sunday arrested a woman along with her alleged paramour for allegedly choking her husband to death. The accused woman, who is a mother of three, was reportedly unhappy with her husband and wanted to get married to her paramour, said the police. The senior superintendent of the police of Dehradun said in a Press conference here on Sunday that a man informed police in the morning about a body lying near a drain in the Makkawala area of Rajpur. The police reached the spot and found the body of a man identified by locals as 44-year-old Mohammad Amzad.

The locals informed the police that Ahmad was a labourer who lived with his wife Jaitunisha (24) and three children in the Makkawala area. When the police started questioning the wife about her husband, she was unable to respond clearly to any of the questions which made the police suspicious. The neighbours told the police during the investigation about a man Lakhbir Singh alias Pintu (26) was a regular visitor to the deceased’s house.  They told the police that Pintu is a resident of Haridwar who used to frequently come to visit Jaitunisha which often led to fights between the husband and wife, said the SSP. He said that when the police questioned the wife again and sternly about her husband, she revealed that she had hatched the plan to kill her husband with Pintu’s help.

According to her, she was not happy with her husband and wanted to live with Pintu, for which her husband used to beat her regularly. “She said that on Saturday evening, she brought some country liquor to get her husband intoxicated. After he was heavily drunk at night, the wife called Pintu and then both choked him to death with her Dupatta. Her children woke up while the duo was committing the murder but Pintu threatened them and told them to go back to sleep.

Later at night when it was raining, the duo threw the body near a drain a little distance from the home to make people believe somebody else killed the man,” said Kunwar. He said that the police nabbed Pintu from a tin shed 500 metres away from the victim’s house. He has also reportedly confessed to killing Amzad.  They both were planning to flee the city to get married, said the SSP.
