NHRSC of Doon University starts BSc research course

In sync with its mandate and the National Educational Policy (NEP-2020), the Nityanand Himalayan Research and Study Centre (NHRSC) of Doon University here has started Bachelor of Science (BSc) honours, research course in the Geological sciences. The centre has also started BSc and BA (Hons), Research courses in Geography. These courses are specialised courses and have been introduced for the first time in Uttarakhand.

 The courses are of a period of four years and are uniquely designed to cater to fulfil the research objective for which the NHRSC was established in Doon University. The students who have passed class XII are eligible for admission in these courses. Designed as per the NEP-2020, the students can pursue PhD in Geology or Geography after completion of four year BSc/ BA (Hons) research course or can take admission in one year Master of Science (MSc).

The head of department of geology, Vipin Kumar said that geology is an ever evolving subject of science and in the context of Uttarakhand its importance is even more. He said that the department of Geology in NHRSC, Doon University is a relatively new, yet dynamic department. “We investigate a variety of natural systems at different spatio-temporal scales. The department offers BSc (Hons) with Research, MSc and PhD courses in geology,’’ he said.
